IND vs BAN: 17 wickets fall on Day 2 as India extends lead to 308

Jasprit Bumrah’s four-wicket haul helped India bowl Bangladesh out for 149, taking a 227-run lead on Day 2 of the first Test in Chennai. India closed the day at 80/3, with Shubman Gill (33*) and Rishabh Pant (12*) unbeaten at the crease. Despite losing quick wickets in their second innings, India maintained control of the game, extending their lead to 308.

The day began with India adding only 37 runs to their overnight total of 376, as Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud quickly wrapped up the innings. Ravichandran Ashwin’s 113 and Ravindra Jadeja’s 86 played a crucial role in India’s first-innings recovery after being reduced to 144/6 on Day 1.

Bangladesh’s innings never gained momentum as Bumrah struck early, and the Indian bowlers collectively restricted them to just 149. Akash Deep and Ravindra Jadeja supported Bumrah’s efforts, taking two wickets each.

With a strong lead and Bumrah’s lethal bowling, India remains in a commanding position as they look to push Bangladesh further away from the contest.
