IND vs BAN: Kanpur tightens security for Bangladesh cricket team amid protest threats

The city of Kanpur has significantly ramped up security ahead of the 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh. This comes after threats of protests aimed at disrupting the match, with concerns raised in both Kanpur and Gwalior.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have turned Kanpur into a high-security zone to ensure the safety of the Bangladesh cricket team, led by Shakib Al Hasan. The security measures include additional forces, coordination with intelligence agencies, and the deployment of snipers, sniffer dogs, and bomb squads. Both teams are expected to arrive in Kanpur on Tuesday evening and will stay at the Landmark Hotel, which is now under heavy security.

Senior police officials will oversee security during the match, with DCP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh serving as the nodal officer. The police have also lodged an FIR against individuals involved in protest activities in the city.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements, following assurances from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The 2nd Test is set to begin on September 27, with both teams prepared for a safe and competitive match.
