Scott Kuggeleijn returns to replace injured Jamieson in New Zealand Test Squad
New Zealand’s pace bowling department sees a change ahead of the upcoming two-Test series against Australia as Scott Kuggeleijn steps in to replace the injured Kyle Jamieson.
Kuggeleijn, who made his sole appearance in a match against England last year, joins the 14-man squad following their recent 2-0 series victory over South Africa.
The decision to include Kuggeleijn comes after Jamieson suffered a back stress fracture during the Proteas series, ruling him out of action for an extended period.
The Test series against Australia is set to kick off in Wellington on February 29 before moving to Christchurch for the second Test.
Despite a foot injury, batsman Daryl Mitchell retains his spot in the squad. However, the injury sidelines him for the second Test against South Africa and will also keep him out of the upcoming three Twenty20 internationals against Australia.
New Zealand Cricket clarified that experienced seamer Trent Boult was not considered for the Test series due to his limited recent red-ball cricket exposure. Boult, who opted out of his New Zealand central contract in 2022 to focus on Twenty20 leagues, has been named in the Black Caps squad for the T20 series against Australia.
The New Zealand Test squad includes familiar faces such as Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, and Tim Southee, alongside newcomers like Rachin Ravindra and Will O’Rourke.
