The pitch was under covers and sweated a bit, the guys will be looking to get plenty of revs on it when we bowl. From this end, Brooky got a cross-seamer which took a chunk off the pitch. We will look to bowl tidily and use our brains. [on the chat with Brook] Not that much with Brooky, you just let him bat. Good relation with him and we have known each other for long, the plan was to take our time and then backload with the guys like Mo and Livi to come.

Following heavy rains, umpires confirmed an 11-over-per-side game, crucial for England’s bid to secure a spot in the Super 8s.

Namibia’s star bowler David Wiese, leveraging his IPL experience, exerted early pressure by conceding just one run in the first over. The tension escalated further when England captain Jos Buttler departed in the second over without opening his account.

Buttler’s dismissal was a result of a stunning delivery from Ruben Trumpelmann. Bowling at 121.6kph, Trumpelmann delivered a full ball that swung sharply in. Buttler attempted a cross-batted shot without foot movement, missing the ball as it deflected onto the off-stump via his back leg. Buttler’s exit on zero recalled memories of his last duck against Ireland in 2022, a match that ended in a surprising victory for Ireland. Could Namibia be poised for a similar upset?

The loss of Buttler’s wicket at the end of the second over left England in a precarious position early in the game. The pressure now mounts on the rest of England’s batting lineup to rally and secure the crucial victory.

Shortly after, England suffered another blow as Philip Salt fell victim to Wiese’s bowling. At 106.9kph, Wiese’s knuckle ball moved slightly away from Salt, who mistimed his shot, resulting in an outside edge that was safely pouched by wicketkeeper Zane Green. Salt departed for 11 runs off 8 balls, including two boundaries.

With two quick wickets down in the truncated 11-over match, England faces an uphill task to secure the second spot in the Super 8s. The conditions remain challenging, but England will need a resilient performance from their remaining batsmen to salvage their campaign in this critical encounter against Namibia.

In a crucial T20 World Cup 2024 match, England faced an early setback against Namibia. After heavy rains, the umpires confirmed an 11-over-per-side game, a must-win for England to secure their spot in the Super 8s.

In the first over, Namibia’s star bowler David Wiese, with his extensive IPL experience, kept England under pressure by conceding just one run. The pressure mounted quickly as England captain Jos Buttler departed in the second over without scoring.

Ruben Trumpelmann bowled a beauty to dismiss Buttler. At 121.6kph, the ball was full and swung in sharply. Buttler, attempting to hoick it across the line without any foot movement, missed the ball completely. The ball swung past his inside edge, hit his back leg, and deflected onto the off-stump. Buttler was bowled for a duck, having faced just four balls. His dismissal brought back memories of his previous duck against Ireland in 2022, a match that ended in a surprising win for Ireland. Could Namibia be on the brink of a similar upset?

Buttler’s wicket at the end of the second over left England in a precarious position. The pressure is on for the rest of the batting lineup to step up and secure the much-needed victory.

Namibia has started strong, and with England’s early struggle, the game is shaping up to be an exciting contest. Can England recover from this early blow, or will Namibia pull off a stunning win? Only time will tell as the match progresses.

After heavy rains delayed the start, the game has finally begun.

This is a must-win game for England. Anything but a win would see the defending champions knocked out of their title defense tournament. With very slight chances of further rain, England will aim to finish the game early and collect the much-needed two points.

Live Toss Update

The coin flip between England skipper Jos Buttler and Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus was delayed due to rain. Umpires have confirmed that the game will be an 11-over match for each side due to the rain delay.

With the weather clearing up, England is set to give their best effort to stay in the tournament.

Pitch Report

The pitch looks absolutely perfect to play as the main square is fine despite heavy rain. The outfield is a bit greasy but nothing to worry about at the moment, confirm the officials.
