Axar Patel clinches ‘Fielder of the Match’ award in India’s T20 World Cup victory over Australia

Indian all-rounder Axar Patel secured the ‘Fielder of the Match’ award following India’s impressive 24-run triumph over Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024 match on Monday (June 24).

Axar Patel’s standout moment came in the ninth over of Australia’s innings when he caught Mitchell Marsh with his non-dominant right hand off Kuldeep Yadav’s delivery. Marsh attempted a pull shot, but Axar positioned himself perfectly behind square to execute a crucial catch.

India’s fielding coach, T Dilip, commended the team for their exceptional fielding efforts. “Phenomenal effort, boys. Everyone, well done. Whether it’s adjusting to the wind or speed in the outfield, we were top-notch. The commitment to every catch exemplified our determination on the field,” T Dilip expressed proudly.

India’s victory propels them into the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024, where they will face England. The team aims to maintain their unbeaten streak and clinch their first ICC trophy in over a decade.
