Gautam Gambhir set for first home series as India’s head coach ahead of India vs Bangladesh 1st Test

Indian cricket’s newly appointed head coach, Gautam Gambhir, is gearing up for his first home series as India prepares to take on Bangladesh in the opening Test tomorrow in Chennai. This follows Gambhir’s initial assignment during a white-ball tour in Sri Lanka, but now the real challenge begins with a series of Tests against Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Australia over the coming months.

Ahead of the first Test, Gambhir will address the media in a pre-match press conference, outlining his plans for the series and beyond. He touched upon several key topics, including India’s fast-bowling all-rounder conundrum, praising the likes of Bumrah, Ashwin, and Jadeja, and their impact on changing India’s bowling narrative.

He expressed admiration for Jasprit Bumrah, calling him the best fast bowler across all formats, and highlighted the good relationships he has built with senior players, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ashwin. Gambhir also addressed the team’s selection approach, noting that while certain players like Sarfaraz may have to wait for their turn, opportunities will come.

Additionally, he praised Rishabh Pant for his contributions with both the bat and gloves, emphasizing his importance to the team.

India will look to kick off this crucial series on a positive note as they face a determined Bangladesh side led by Najmul Hossain Shanto.
