Kenya replaces Dodda Ganesh as coach after just one month

In a surprising move, Kenya’s cricket team has replaced former Indian cricketer Dodda Ganesh as head coach just one month after his appointment. Ganesh, who was named coach in August with a one-year contract, saw his position voided by Cricket Kenya, citing irregularities in the hiring process.
Lameck Onyango and Joseph Angara have been reinstated as coaches and will lead the team for the upcoming 2027 CWC Challenge League Group A round in September. Reports indicate that Cricket Kenya passed a resolution on August 28, declaring Ganesh’s contract void due to procedural oversights.
Ganesh was optimistic about helping Kenya return to the World Cup stage, a goal that now seems uncertain. Kenya’s cricket team, which reached the semi-finals of the 2003 World Cup, has struggled to qualify for the tournament since 2011. The upcoming ICC Division 2 Challenge League will be crucial in their journey back to World Cup contention.
