MCA President Rohit Pawar wants Rohit Sharma to lead India in 2027 World Cup

Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) President Rohit Pawar has expressed his desire for Rohit Sharma to lead the Indian cricket team in the 2027 ODI World Cup. This announcement follows India’s heart-wrenching loss in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, which left fans across the nation longing for another shot at the title.
Reflecting on the defeat, Pawar said, “We want to win another World Cup, and we want Rohit Sharma to captain the team in the 2027 World Cup.” The loss in 2023 has been difficult for both the team and its fans, as the dream of winning the World Cup after a 13-year wait slipped through their fingers. Rohit Sharma himself expressed regret for coming so close to making history. However, the recent T20 World Cup victory has renewed fans’ hopes of reclaiming the ODI title.
Fans’ Demand for Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy
During a recent event in Rashin, Maharashtra, the crowd showered the Indian skipper with an enthusiastic welcome. The fans showed their support and voiced their wish for Rohit Sharma to continue captaining India through to the 2027 ODI World Cup.
When the event host asked the crowd who they wanted to see leading India in the next World Cup, the audience overwhelmingly chanted Rohit Sharma’s name. The host acknowledged this sentiment, stating, “I will surely come, and on behalf of the entire country, I request Rohit that we need one more World Cup, and whom do we want to see lead India in that World Cup?” The crowd responded with resounding chants of “Rohit! Rohit!” highlighting their desire to see the Indian captain lead the team once again.
