WATCH: England receive traditional welcome in Pakistan ahead of Test series
As England landed in Pakistan for their Test series, the team was treated to a warm and vibrant welcome in Multan. Reflecting the hospitality often seen in the Asian subcontinent, the English team was greeted with traditional festivities as they stepped off their bus from Multan International Airport to their hotel.
A group of traditional dancers performed to the beats of the dhol and bagpipes, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere that left quite a few English team members visibly appreciative. On entering the hotel, the players were adorned with intricately embroidered shawls and presented with bouquets, showcasing the warm hospitality of the hosts.
Pakistan Searches for a Test Victory
Pakistan, however, has been on a challenging path in their Test journey. They recently faced setbacks, including a home defeat to Bangladesh and an early exit from the T20 World Cup in June. The red-ball side is in dire need of a turnaround, as they haven’t won any of their last 10 Tests at home. Their last victory in a home Test match came against South Africa in Rawalpindi over three years ago.
England’s Edge Over Pakistan
England holds a historical advantage over Pakistan, having won 29 out of their 89 Tests against them, with Pakistan winning only 21. With England coming off a strong home summer, where they won five of their six Tests, it will be interesting to see how Pakistan, under pressure, responds to a well-prepared English side.
