Abhishek Nayar to join India’s coaching staff for Sri Lanka series

Abhishek Nayar has been appointed as an assistant coach for India’s upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka. This move comes as part of Gautam Gambhir’s new coaching team, which has received approval from the BCCI.
Nayar, who previously worked with Gambhir at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, is set to bring his expertise to the Indian national team. Alongside Nayar, Ryan Ten Doeschate, another familiar face from the KKR setup, will join the support staff. T Dilip, who has been retained as the fielding coach, will also be part of the team.
The addition of Nayar and Ten Doeschate, along with the potential appointment of Morne Morkel as the bowling coach, reflects Gambhir’s vision for the team. Nayar’s role in the KKR setup earned him praise for his work ethic and contributions, making him a key choice for Gambhir.
The Indian team, under Gambhir’s leadership, will travel to Colombo for the series starting Monday. Ryan is expected to join the squad after completing his commitments with the Major League Cricket (MLC).
