Laura Wolvaardt shines at CSA awards, wins five honors including Women’s Player of the Year

Laura Wolvaardt dominated the 2023 CSA Awards ceremony, securing five prestigious accolades, including the Women’s Player of the Year. Wolvaardt, who took over as captain of South Africa’s women’s team last season, was also named the Women’s T20 International Player of the Year, One-Day International Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, and Fans’ Player of the Year. She led South Africa as their top run-scorer in both ODIs and T20Is for the 2023-24 season, and made her maiden Test century against India in June.
In the men’s category, Marco Jansen was crowned Men’s Player of the Year, following his stellar performance in South Africa’s semi-final run at the ICC Men’s World Cup in 2023, where he claimed 17 wickets.
Other key award winners included Quinton de Kock, named Men’s One-Day International Player of the Year, in his final season for South Africa, and Reeza Hendricks, awarded Men’s T20 International Player of the Year. Keshav Maharaj was voted Men’s Players’ Player of the Year, while David Bedingham and Eliz-Mari Marx were honored as the International Newcomers of the Year for men and women, respectively.
Marizanne Kapp received the Best Delivery by KFC award for her outstanding in-swinger that bowled Beth Mooney. Meanwhile, Masabata Klaas was recognized with the Makhaya Ntini Power of Cricket Award for her inspiring return to the sport after a three-year break due to motherhood.
