Lynford Inverary to step in as CWI’s acting CEO

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has appointed Lynford Inverary as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The board of directors made this decision on September 28 in Port-of-Spain.

Inverary’s term as COO begins on October 1, and he will take over as acting CEO on November 1. He will replace Johnny Grave, who has served as CWI’s CEO for nearly eight years, having taken up the role in February 2017. During his tenure, Grave oversaw three World Cups hosted in the West Indies, including the 2018 Women’s T20 World Cup, the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, and the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup co-hosted with the USA.

An Antiguan national born in Guyana, Inverary has over ten years of experience with CWI. He has held various roles, such as business planning manager and acting corporate secretary. More recently, he played a key role in developing CWI’s 2024-27 strategic plan, titled “The Long Run,” which focuses on improving governance, cricket development, operational efficiency, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization.

Inverary expressed his gratitude to the CWI Board for the opportunity, stating, “I am honored and grateful to the CWI Board of Directors for their vote of confidence in my ability to lead. I embrace this new challenge as a platform to continue contributing to the development of the sport that means so much to me and the people of the West Indies.”

He also holds a graduate degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, and an MBA from the University of South Wales.

CWI president, Dr. Kishore Shallow, spoke highly of Inverary’s experience and commitment to the organization. “Lynford brings a wealth of institutional knowledge and a deep understanding of CWI’s strategic goals. Over his decade-long tenure, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, guiding critical projects to successful completion.”

Inverary’s appointment marks a transitional phase for CWI as they look to enhance cricket development and operational effectiveness in the coming years.
