Sachin Tendulkar launches first edition of International Masters League

Veteran cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar have unveiled the inaugural edition of the International Masters League (IML), a new cricket tournament featuring six teams from across the globe. The tournament is set to bring together cricket stars from India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, England, and Sri Lanka. While Tendulkar will return to the pitch as a player, Gavaskar will take on the role of League Commissioner.

In a statement on Monday, Tendulkar expressed his excitement for the IML, highlighting the growing global popularity of cricket. “Cricket continues to grow in popularity not just in India but across the world. In the last decade, T20 cricket has accelerated its adoption and has drawn new fans into the game. There is now a strong desire among fans across ages to re-witness age-old battles in newer formats,” Tendulkar said.

Venues and Schedule

The tournament will be played across three cities in India: Mumbai, Lucknow, and Raipur. The detailed schedule and the squad announcements for each of the six teams are expected to be made soon.

The launch of the IML is an exciting opportunity for fans to see legendary cricketers back in action, reliving classic battles and witnessing some of the sport’s greats compete on the field once again.
