Pakistan announce squad for first Test against England, Noman Ali and Aamer Jamal return

Pakistan has revealed their squad for the first Test against England, which sees the return of left-arm spinner Noman Ali and fast-bowling all-rounder Aamer Jamal. Noman, a 37-year-old veteran with 47 wickets in 15 Tests, last played for Pakistan in July 2023. Aamer Jamal, who has impressed in recent outings but has battled back issues, earns his spot following Khurram Shahzad’s injury.

Selectors have left out Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali from the squad, though both remain in Pakistan’s future plans. The decision to limit the squad to 15 players aligns with the team’s selection policy, focused on consistency.

The squad will gather in Multan on September 30 for a training camp ahead of the first Test, which begins on October 7. Head coach Jason Gillespie highlighted the need for players to rest ahead of the busy series.

Pakistan Squad: Shan Masood (C), Saud Shakeel (VC), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Naseem Shah, Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (WK), Shaheen Shah Afridi.
