The United States has made history by advancing to the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. The USA vs. Ireland match, which was crucial for the Super 8 qualifications, was called off without a ball being bowled. This result secured the USA’s spot in the next round and made them the first associate team to reach this stage in their debut T20 World Cup.

For Pakistan, the cancellation of the match means a disappointing end to their tournament. They are now knocked out and will need to compete in qualifiers to secure a place in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the USA and Afghanistan, along with six other teams in the Super 8, will gain direct entry to the next T20 World Cup.

The Super 8 stage will feature teams that have performed well in this tournament, and the top-ranked teams will join them based on their standings. The remaining spots will be filled through regional qualifiers. The USA’s success marks a significant milestone for USA Cricket, highlighting their rapid progress in the international arena.

Pakistan did not play upto their mark which caused them to be in such a “fate-game” position. The tough loss against USA has not only made Pakistan’s chances zero, but also gave USA the confidence for the Super Eights.
