Travis Head dethrones Suryakumar Yadav in latest ICC T20I Rankings

In a surprising shake-up, India’s Suryakumar Yadav has lost his No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings to Australia’s Travis Head. This marks the first time since December 2023 that Suryakumar is not the top-ranked T20I batter.

Travis Head’s exceptional performance in the T20 World Cup has propelled him to the top of the rankings. His explosive innings of 76 runs off just 43 balls against India in the final Super Eight clash was a key highlight. Although Australia did not advance further, Head’s overall tournament performance was outstanding. He scored 255 runs in seven matches at an average of 42.5, with a tournament-leading strike rate of 158.39 among batsmen with over 200 runs.

Despite losing the top spot, Suryakumar Yadav remains a formidable contender. He has slipped to No. 2 with 149 runs in six World Cup outings, trailing Head by just two rating points. A strong performance in India’s upcoming semi-final against England could see him reclaim the top position. If he continues his form and reaches the final, he might regain his No. 1 ranking.

Among Pakistani players, both Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have dropped one spot each. Babar Azam has moved from third to fourth place, while Mohammad Rizwan is now ranked fifth. This comes after a challenging T20 World Cup campaign for Pakistan.
