IPL 2025: Wasim Jaffer in talks to become Punjab’s Head Coach

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer is reportedly in discussions with the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) to take over as the team’s head coach. Jaffer is expected to replace Avishkar Salvi, who recently joined the women’s cricket team as a bowling coach. The negotiations are ongoing, and an official announcement is anticipated soon.
Jaffer Leads the Race for Punjab Coaching Role
Jaffer, known for his extensive experience in domestic cricket, is seen as the frontrunner for the position. The appointment comes as the domestic season, including the Vijay Hazare Trophy, approaches. With a break in the Indian national team’s international schedule, some senior players are likely to participate in the domestic circuit, potentially under Jaffer’s guidance.
Coaching Changes in Andhra and Tamil Nadu
In other developments, Tinu Yohannan has been appointed as the head coach of Andhra Pradesh. Yohannan, a former pacer, previously coached Kerala for five years and worked as a scout for the Delhi Capitals. Additionally, Sulakshan Kulkarni has taken over as the head coach of Tamil Nadu. Kulkarni’s appointment follows his departure from the team, which was reportedly due to disagreements over his attitude and comments during the Ranji Trophy season.
