IPL 2025: Ashish Nehra set to leave Gujarat Titans, Yuvraj Singh a potential replacement

In a significant shake-up for the Gujarat Titans, head coach Ashish Nehra and director of cricket Vikram Solanki are expected to leave the franchise before the IPL 2025 season. Nehra, who led the Titans to an IPL title in 2022 and a finals appearance in 2023, has decided not to continue his role.

During his three years with the franchise, Nehra achieved great success, but the 2024 season ended on a sour note as the Titans finished 8th. Following the departure of mentor Gary Kirsten, who resigned to become Pakistan’s Test head coach, Nehra’s exit marks another major change for the team.

The Titans are now considering Yuvraj Singh as Nehra’s potential replacement. While discussions are ongoing, no final decision has been made. A source told News18, “A lot of changes are on the cards. Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki are highly likely to move on and discussions around Yuvraj Singh have already begun. Nothing is finalised right now but there could be some major changes in the coaching staff of the Gujarat Titans.”

The 2024 season was turbulent for the Titans, with captain Hardik Pandya traded to the Mumbai Indians and Shubman Gill named as the new skipper. The trade, along with Mohammed Shami’s injury, disrupted the team’s balance and contributed to their poor performance.

With five months left before the IPL 2025 mega auction, the franchise faces further uncertainty. Reports suggest that CVC Capital Partners is looking to sell a major holding in the franchise, with the Adani Group and the Torrent Group showing interest in taking over. This potential ownership change could also be a factor in Nehra and Solanki’s departure.
