IPL 2025: Rahul Dravid in talks for coaching role with IPL franchises RCB and RR

After leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, Rahul Dravid is preparing for a new role in the IPL 2025. The former cricketer and ex-India head coach is reportedly in discussions with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) for a mentor position.

Sources indicate that an official announcement will be made within the next few months. Previously, there were speculations that Dravid might join Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after Gautam Gambhir left to become Team India’s head coach. Under Gambhir, KKR won the IPL 2024 title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the finals.

A top BCCI official, speaking anonymously, confirmed that talks are ongoing between Dravid and some IPL franchises. Dravid had humorously mentioned to a reporter recently that he would soon be open for work, hinting at his next career move.

Although there was a possibility of Dravid returning to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, joining an IPL franchise would prevent him from holding both positions simultaneously.
