Sri Lanka’s Dushmantha Chameera ruled out of T20I series against India

Sri Lanka will be without pacer Dushmantha Chameera for their upcoming T20I series against India. Chameera has been sidelined due to an injury, as reported by Sri Lankan media. The three-match series is set to begin on July 27.
Chameera’s replacement has not yet been announced. The right-arm pacer, who has been a key player in Sri Lanka’s T20I squad, was also unavailable for the ODI World Cup in 2023 and missed out on the IPL 2024 with the Kolkata Knight Riders. He played only two matches in the T20 World Cup in the USA and had a brief stint in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) before being ruled out.
With 55 T20I wickets to his name, Chameera’s absence will put extra pressure on Sri Lanka’s bowling attack. Matheesha Pathirana will need to find a new partner in the absence of Chameera.
Sri Lanka is looking to bounce back from a disappointing ICC T20 World Cup campaign, where they were eliminated in the group stage after winning just one of their four matches.
The current Sri Lankan squad for the T20I series includes Charith Asalanka (captain), Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Janith Perera, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Kamindu Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, and Binura Fernando.
