ICC Test Rankings: Joe Root closes in on top spot; Harry Brook climbs to third

Joe Root has moved closer to the top of the ICC Test Rankings, climbing to second place among batters. Root’s recent performance against the West Indies, where he scored his 32nd Test century, has increased his rating to 852 points. He is now just seven points behind Kane Williamson, who leads with 859 points.

Root’s century came as part of a strong second innings where he partnered with Harry Brook, who also had a standout game. Brook scored 109 runs from 132 balls, contributing significantly to England’s total and helping set a target of 385 runs. England went on to win the second Test by 241 runs and took a decisive lead in the series.

Brook’s excellent performance has propelled him to third place in the ICC Test Rankings for batters. He has moved up four positions and now has 771 rating points, surpassing Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who is in fourth place.
